WHAT IS PATHOLOGY?

At it's most basic level, pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease. What does this mean to you? You are concerned with the health and well being of yourself and the people you love. We at Central Oregon Pathology Consultants strive to provide the most accurate results, performed by our board certified pathologists and technologists, as quickly as possible. We may never meet you, but we understand you are our neighbor and behind every specimen we receive there is a person waiting for an answer. Be confident that we are collaborating with your clinician, working diligently toward the best possible outcome for your health and well being.

MY DIAGNOSIS

Your healthcare picture is like a very complex puzzle with pathology being just one of many pieces. Your treating physician is the best person to interpret a pathologic diagnosis, and correlate it with all other applicable factors to bring that picture in to focus for you. If you are concerned with your diagnosis, they should be your first source to provide you with clarity.

SECOND OPINIONS

We strive to provide the most accurate diagnoses possible on all specimens. Every new cancer diagnosis is reviewed by at least 2 pathologists. Our diverse specialty training allows us to provide diagnoses on all but the most complex and difficult cases. For these cases, we can ask the opinion of many consulting pathologists. If we feel this is needed, we will send the specimen to an outside consultant without delay.

Second opinions can be solicited by treating physicians and patients. Please be aware, however, that consulting pathologists will bill for their services.
